Chalkstream Fly Fishing
The finest chalkstream fly fishing beats on the River Test, River Itchen and River Avon
We are extremely lucky that our office is situated in the heart of the English chalkstreams, we are minutes away from the River Test, Avon, Itchen and their tributaries. When we are not in the office we try and spend as much time as possible fly fishing for trout and grayling on these special rivers.
These are our home waters and over the years we have built a huge knowledge base on the best beats and rivers to be on throughout the year. Recently we have been asked more increasingly for advice on when and where to fish. We have a great relationship with various fishing providers throughout these valleys and we are happy to announce that we can help you arrange various days throughout the season.
The joy of these home waters is that they are great practice venues before heading on a future destination trip and as such we will also be offering guiding and teaching on the water for those looking for that extra preparation.
While our focus will remain on providing you with the best destination trips available should you wish to speak to us about Chalkstream availability please do not hesitate to contact Bill Latham.
We can arrange or offer advice on various local accommodation from small comfortable Bed & Breakfasts through to luxury hotels perfect for non-fishers.
We offer rivers and lakes over a wide section of southern England, including Hampshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Dorset.
Most rivers are within 1 hour 30 minutes from London via train or road.
For anglers coming in from further afield it is possible to fly into London Heathrow and Southampton and we can arrange transfers to match.

River Avon - Chalkstream Fly Fishing
Two headwater streams feed the Hampshire Avon both rising in the Vale of Pewsey, the East Avon comes from chalk whereas the West Avon rises in greensand and it is because of this the River Avon is not considered to be a chalkstream in the strictest sense of the word. Persistent heavy rain early in the season can leave the river a little coloured but it quickly clears only affecting the the river for a few days. From summer through to the end of the season the water clarity is comparable to that of many chalkstreams.
River Anton - Chalkstream Fly Fishing
One of the four main tributaries feeding the River Test, the River Anton is a short chalkstream of some seven miles in length rising to the north of Andover and joining the River Test just below the riverside garden of the renowned Mayfly pub. The River Anton is great for those looking for a more challenging alternative to the River Test.
River Test - Chalkstream Fly Fishing
The River Test must be the most famous trout fly fishing river in the world not only for the quality of the fish but also for the past literary history and characters. By far the biggest of all chalkstreams 30 + miles as the crow flies from source to sea it offers over 100 miles of wonderful fishing.
