Playa Blanca Lodge, Mexico

One of Mexico’s best kept angling secrets

With near-exclusive access to Mexico’s Espiritu Santo Bay and the grand Santa Rosa Lagoon system, Playa Blanca Lodge offers anglers the opportunity to catch bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook. The comfortable lodge also welcomes non-fishing partners, giving them the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful location as well.

a variety of fishing opportunities

Playa Blanca guides can lay claim to the fact that they were the first to regularly fly fish, explore and learn this bay. It would be hard to find a better destination from which to fish this remote area.

Espirtiu Santo Bay is loaded with bonefish, permit and tarpon. Some other species anglers might try their skill with are snook, jacks, snapper, triggerfish and big barracuda. Laguna Santa Rosa is famous for it’s year round juvenile tarpon population as well as some excellent bonefishing and occasionally some great snook fishing.

The Caribbean surf offers up a variety of fishing opportunities, best of which might be fishing topwaters or big metal lures for giant barracuda. How big is a giant barracuda? We think 50+ inch barracuda would qualify.

enjoy seaside, thatched roofed, duplex cabanas

Playa Blanca accommodation comprises seven seaside, thatched roofed, duplex cabanas. The rooms are large, well appointed with all the modern amenities, large bathrooms set with tropical accents; each with its own patio overlooking the tropical grounds and turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

The food served in Playa Blanca’s beachfront restaurant and bar rivals any of the best restaurants on the Yucatan coast.  Prior to eating guests can enjoy a cocktail under the rooftop palapa overlooking the Caribbean & Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.

Playa Blanca is perfect for world class anglers, adventurers, honeymooners, active families and groups.

“I wanted somewhere where my wife and I could have a fantastic beach holiday along with me getting  some fishing, and Playa Blanca ticked all the boxes. Fishing in the back country lagoons for tarpon will remain with me for ever. Thanks for the recommendation and we look forward to returning.” G.T. – UK

Playa Blanca Adventure Resort

Ten miles south of Casa Blanca on Isla Punta Pajaros you will find Playa Blanca Adventure Resort. Here you have access to one of light tackle fishing’s most spectacular frontiers, Espiritu Santo Bay.

What makes this an adventure resort are all the other activities; some wonderful snorkelling over a seemingly endless coral reef, back country kayaking through jungle lagoons, trekking the island’s seaside road, exploring the nearby Mayan ruins, bicycling down remote stretches of beach, or simply relaxing in a hammock beneath the palms.  The lodge is reached via a 45 minute charter flight from Cancun and then a short boat transfer.
