Villa Maria Lodge; sea trout fishing Rio Grande, TDF, Argentina.

Villa Maria Lodge is perfect for small groups as well as single anglers looking to target sea run brown trout. The lodge is a renovated farm house within the working estancia, Jose Menendez. The main house is situated a short drive from the river. This is the benchmark lodge that all others on the river attempt to follow.

Some of the finest sea trout fishing in the world...

Villa Maria has offered small private groups exciting fishing on some of the most productive pools in the lower river since 1994.

A very different fishery to Kau Tapen, Villa Maria is a double handed fishermen’s dream, enjoying private access on both banks and first crack of the whip at newly arrived sea trout. It commands 15km of prime sea trout fishing on the lower Rio Grande, with fish averaging 10 lbs in size and running up to 30lbs.

Fishing is from both banks, and the river offers easy wading with fine gravel banks. Fishing the lower Rio Grande is usually an all-day affair; you will leave the ranch each morning, spending the day on the water before returning after dark, enjoying lunch and siesta in a specially designed building overlooking the river. Villa Maria is a strictly catch and release fishery. Guides are equipped with nets and will assist guests in weighing and releasing fish without damaging them.

“Incredible fishery, great accommodation and service from entire staff, terrific food and wine, extremely competent guides.” J.S., UK

Great for small, intact parties. Amazing standard and level of service.

With friendly and dedicated house staff and guides, Villa Maria is very well suited to caring for small groups of friends or family groups.

The lodge can accommodate 6 rods on a single en suite basis. It is equipped with a dining room, sitting room, bar, wading room, and fly-tying table. While at Villa Maria you will experience gourmet dining, with Argentina’s famed beef and fine wines, traditional Asados (BBQs) and delicious desserts.
