Chongwe River Camp

Perfect fot the family to game view while accessing the fantastic tiger fishing on the lower Zambezi.

Located on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers in Zambia, Chongwe River Lodge has wonderful views of the Muchinga Mountains to the north. Chongwe River Lodge borders the Lower Zambezi National Park which offers a pristine wilderness with a wide variety of terrain.

Chongwe River Camp has had a long history as a fishing camp mainly catering for South African clientele. Its owner Chris Liebenberg, a passionate conservationist and fisherman, has raised the standard of the camp enormously to attract international fisherman and safari goers from around the globe. With five very competent specialist fishing guides and three dedicated fishing boats you will be sure of the best chance of catching lots of fine fish.

Chongwe River Camp is a simple but comfortable camp with eight tented chalets. Each has ensuite facilities and a private verandah overlooking the river. The camp has a plunge pool, and a rustic bar. Meals are served outside, on the banks of the Chongwe under albia trees, or in the bush overlooking the Zambezi River. It is an ideal location for not only fisherman looking to catch their first tiger fish but also superb if they are travelling with a non fishing friend or family. Whilst staying at Chongwe River Camp guests can enjoy excellent game viewing on both day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, or by foot with an armed guide. Canoeing on the Zambezi River is also a great way to view the birds and mammals along the riverbank. For those who want a more relaxed option, sundowner cruises can be organised. Alternatively you can fish the Zambezi for tiger fish and bream.
