Nicholas Dean Lodge

Nicholas Dean Outfitters are based just off the Kalum River on the outskirts of Terrace, British Columbia, Canada. It is blessed with being located in the Lower Skeena watershed that boasts numerous productive steelhead and salmon rivers and produces some of the biggest wild steelhead and Pacific salmon in the world. It is a short distance from the Nass and Kitimat watersheds and remote coastal streams. No matter what sort of river you have a preference for it can be located within their guiding territory. Nicholas Dean knows where and when to fish these rivers for large wild steelhead, all five species of Pacific salmon, rainbow trout, bull trout, sea-run cutthroat and dolly varden.

The guides at Nicholas Dean have been fishing the Skeena River, Skeena tributaries, Copper River, Nass tributaries and remote coastal rivers for wild steelhead and Pacific salmon for over 20 years. They have one of the longest fishing seasons of any lodge in North America. With over 54 rivers, lakes and salt water estuary destinations the guides have the unique ability to plan a different experience daily. From long line casts and big water on the Skeena River, to small gin clear streams, sight casting to Steelhead and coho, or skating a dry fly across a coastal river pool. They also offer different mediums such as rafting, drift boat, hiking, jet boat or helicopter. Even when bad weather makes fishing conditions tricky in one area, you will simply be moved to another watershed.

Clients are accommodated in the stunning Yellow Cedar Creek Lodge. You will find comfortable beds with ensuite bathrooms, fantastic food and a great environment for sharing those daily fishing stories. This fantastic lodge has all modern convieniences such as wireless broadband, games room with bar, gym with cardio equipment and weights, sauna, and hot tub. One highlight of your stay at Yellow Cedar Lodge is the culinary experience. Resident Red Seal Chef Alf Leslie takes great pleasure in preparing good home cooked meals, home made breads and special desserts, with bountiful supplies of fresh wild salmon and halibut from the north Pacific Ocean and fresh fruits and vegetables from local farms.

Client Comments:
"Having caught a 20 lbs steelhead on my first day I did not think it could get any better! I was wrong, and later in the week I was stunned by the shear variety of water available. I think we fished a different river every day and caught 3 or 4 different species of pacific salmon amoungst the steelhead. Yellow cedar lodge is fantastic, and the food excellent. I shall look forward to returning." A.R. - UK
