Cosmoledo atoll

The finest saltwater fishing on the planet with the most prolific giant trevally fishing available.

Cosmoledo, located approximately 600 miles south west of Mahe and 200 miles North of Madagascar in the far reaches of the Aldabra chain. This stunning jewel in the Indian Ocean is home to some of the finest wildlife and flats fishing anywhere on the globe, and is an adventure in itself. A 3 hour flight from Mahe to Assumption, followed by an overnight crossing aboard will have you standing on flats that have hardly seen fishermen, and fish that have barely seen flies. It is a bonefish and trevally heaven.

Typically anglers will be up early and after a quick breakfast head out to the flats to fish the first tide in two tender boats. After the session they’ll be collected and returned to the vessel for lunch before heading out later the afternoon for the second fishing session. During the midday break anglers snorkel, tie flies, or just laze around the boat. There is no fixed schedule onboard, the following days activities and schedule will be planned the night before between the guides and anglers and will vary depending on the species the anglers wish to target and the tide table. Number wise, experienced anglers can catch as many as fifty bonefish per day, and giant trevally of over 70lbs have been landed on the atoll on fly tackle. There are also the famous milkfish which are often caught with the help of the guides. There is no shortage of fish, and with the offshore fishing a mere 250 yards from the shore there is plenty of opportunity to tangle with bluewater species as well.

You home for the weeks will be the Neptune Warrior. The Neptune Warrior is a luxury motorised catamaran fully refitted in 2009 for exactly this purpose. Accommodation is in five spacious double cabins and with a draft of only 1.3 metres she can easily cruise inside the pristine lagoons of Seychelles’ outer island coral atolls. To reach the flats Neptune Warrior has two Orca 350 Aluminium tender boats which are 5.3 m long with a draft of only 8 inches and powered by Yamaha 85 hp engines.

This trip is for the obsessive compulsive fisherman, and not really suitable for non - fishers. Space is limited with set departure dates. As part of the outer islands experience you will also spend a day on Astove, weather permitting. The season is November and December and then February to April.
Client Comments:
If you get the chance to fish these remote atolls out in the Indian Ocean you will see mind-blowing numbers of fish, and these GTs fight like they look : mean, aggressive, powerful, and downright contemptuous of you, the angler. HG
