Turneffe Flats Lodge

The Turneffe Atoll is located approximately 30 miles from the mainland. The trip by boat to Turneffe Flats takes about 90 minutes on their 48 foot custom jet boat. The trip will take you through the offshore cayes, the Barrier Reef, and through the Turneffe Islands to Turneffe Flats. Turneffe Flats is located on the eastern (seaward) side of the Turneffe Atoll on a beautiful private point with coconut palms and white sand beach allowing immediate access to miles of wadeable flats as well as the best diving and snorkelling in Belize.

The lodge is ideally located to enjoy all of Turneffe’s 250 square miles of expansive flats, healthy coral reef and remarkably rich marine habitat. Bonefishing is a mainstay of the fishing operation with miles of crystal clear, wadeable flats. While wading Turneffe’s extensive turtle grass flats, you will sight fish to large schools of bonefish as well as smaller groups and singles. Turneffe Flats is also one of a select group of saltwater destinations where you can experience flats fishing for tailing permit with a reasonable opportunity to catch one. Tarpon are present throughout the year, but the migratory tarpon season really begins in April and continues to mid October. June, July and August are generally the best months for tarpon fishing. Most of the migratory tarpon are in the 70-90 pound range but a few 150-200 pound monsters are seen each year.

The social centre for Turneffe Flats is the air-conditioned lodge surrounded by eight spacious, air-conditioned guest rooms located on the beach with panoramic views of Turneffe's coral reef. All rooms are furnished with a queen size bed and an extra-long single bed. Each room has a large private bath. Meals are a tasty combination of Belizean and American dishes served family-style. Fresh seafood, local produce and home-baked pastries are standard fare. You will awaken each morning to fresh coffee or tea served on your veranda. Apart from beachcombing, sea kayaking, birding and snorkelling Turneffe Flats Lodge has a reputation as a first class dive lodge with 45 ft pro dive boats and veteran dive masters.
Client Comments:
"The Turneffe atoll is so vast, it is easy to believe you are the only people out there fishing".
