Huge giant trevally and permit in southern Oman

Based in Shuwaymiyah in Southern Oman This operation is perfectly situated to fish ‘The Hallaniyats’. Located 50 kilometres offshore these islands offer one of the last untouched fisheries in the world and are home to the only un-migratory humpback whales in existence. It also offers refuge to huge pods of dolphin, manta rays, turtles and most exciting of all game fish, the giant trevally. .  A trip here promises to unveil a land of unequalled beauty that remains undiscovered by mainstream tourism, preserving its natural charm and magnificent landscape.

Huge species variety on different methods

Oman’s shores are met by the Indian Ocean containing a biodiversity of rich marine life, untouched in many places along its endless coastline and offering world-class fishing to many types of different angling experiences.

The fishing in this area is hugely varied, and it lends itself best to those that are happy to use different methods of fly and popper fishing.  Most clients target the monster (some 60 kg+) giant trevally that bully the endless reefs, but there is so much more to peel line off your reel with a variety of billfish, tuna, the razor gang, dorado and reef fish all waiting to besiege your lure or fly. The surface action at the islands is something to behold with fish smashing surface lures with such extreme ferocity that adrenaline pumping explosions are never far away.  The wonderful location also offers fantastic shore/reef fishing at all times of year with species such as queen fish, blue fish, bream and snapper caught right off the beach.

The fly dedicated trips will focus on fishing offshore around the Hallaniyat Islands for milkfish, GTs, sailfish, trevally and more. Walking the beaches of the islands for GTs, permit and parrotfish. Inshore along the mainland for golden trevally, queenfish, bream, permit, trevally, Indian mirrorfish (diamond trevally) etc. We are excited to offer shore based options on the mainland for walking the surf on the endless remote beaches for permit.

The operation is equipped with 3 x 32 ft custom Arabian Craft centre consoles with twin four stroke 150hp outboards. combined with full suites of electronics and totally open front decks they make ideal casting platforms. The guide team this season is headed up by a recent addition Chad Kockette, formerly of Nomad in Australia with extensive fly fishing experience. All the captains are in their 5th season though so have extensive experience and local knowledge.

Comfortable lodging to relax at the end of a hard days fishing

The lodges underwent a major renovation in the summer of 2011. They offer guests all modern and home comforts which are not available elsewhere in this remote village. This is also your hosts permanent home with all our their decorations and furniture which helps in making guests feel welcome and comfortable.

The end result is two very homely lodges with power shower cubicles, all wooden furniture and comfortable beds/mattresses. The lodge has a modern kitchen and they will home cook a variety of different cuisine daily. All of this combined makes a huge difference during a few days of hard fishing as you don’t feel like you have being roughing it.

There are two outdoor showers and rod wash downs, a large BBQ area with tables and chairs and also a great fire pit at the back of the guest house.

The lodge can accommodate up to ten fishermen at a time with two single beds in each of the five air conditioned bedrooms or should the smaller groups wish then each guest can book their own room. We also offer the opportunity to camp on the islands for the more adventurous smaller groups.
