Major Changes in Fishing
The fishing Village at this year’s CLA Game Fair has had a radical make-over with a host of new things for visitors to see and do.
Head of Fishing Chris Ogborne said: ‘These changes are long overdue as so many elements were either getting stale or were past their sell-by dates. We’re obviously keeping the things that matter, but this year our visitors will really notice that there are more hands-on attractions, loads more things to engage youngsters and newcomers, and great opportunities to get involved and ‘have a go.’
We’ve actually changed the whole look of the Village. Instead of one long row of stands, we now have a proper village feel where every stand faces in towards the center of things All the activities will focus on this central area and there will be a totally new demo program that cannot fail to educate and entertain.’
The MUST SEE attractions this year include:
Come as you are, or change into a wet suit and try kayaking at first hand. And it’s not just Fishing as you can also try out surf, sport and leisure kayaks on the water. Fully qualified experts are on hand and you will be paddling a specially laid–out course on the lake.
You’ll also be able to test and buy kayaks, along with all the equipment needed to enjoy this rapidly growing sport. The different styles of boat will be explained by the staff, as well as the advantages of new materials – anyone who has used a carbon paddle after a metal one will appreciate the benefits!

There’s also a ‘spot the species’ competitions where you can try to identify all the different types of fish in the tank.
Another ‘first’ for the Game Fair and we are delighted to be involved with the nations favorite charity. The RNLI will be on hand to show the importance of safety on the water, with their complete Safety Advice unit. They’re also bringing an Inshore Lifeboat along so you can see up close on of the actual boat that saves lives on a daily basis. So many people involved with this amazing organisation put their lives on the line on a daily basis so we’re sure that you’ll give them your support in traditional Game Fair style.
There will be a daily auction in the Fishing Village with proceeds going to the RNLI Star lots include a new fishing kayak donated by Channel Kayaks Ltd, a full game fishing outfit donated by Hardy Greys, and a compete beginners outfit donated by Shakespeare Other lots will be added and all the details will be announced over the PA system.
