UK; September Outlook on the Chalkstreams

This week on the chalkstreams sees the final weed cut of the season on the River Test come to an end. The River Itchen cut finished last week and the Avon earlier in the month. This means that we now had a whole month of uninterrupted fishing, with some of the best conditions of the season.

The art of weed cutting benefits angler and fish (and all other river life) by shaping and moulding the river to maximise flow, keep water levels up and to stop the watercourse becoming choked with weed.

With the more typical English summer conditions returning to our shores this past week, the rain and cooler temperatures have brought about more day time activity and the early onset of autumn. Whether you favour dry or nymph fishing, trout or grayling; this next month of fishing is great for all.
