Chime Lodge, Argentina
Patagonian gem
Perched on the banks of the Rio Chimehuin in the shadow of the Lanín Volcano, Chime Lodge is a Patagonian gem that fuses old-world charm with modern fly-fishing indulgence. In addition to floating and wade fishing on the Chimehuin River, visiting anglers will find superb trout fishing on the nearby Colon Cura and Alumine Rivers as well as on trophy lakes such as Huechulafquen, Paimun, Tromen and Curruhe.
Diverse trout waters in northern Patagonia
The Chimehuin is a meandering ribbon of cold, clear water slicing through the Patagonian steppe, rich with brown and rainbow trout that aren’t shy about inhaling a well-placed dry. Anglers can float and wade through classic freestone runs with every pool holding the promise of fish. Nearby, small streams offer dry fly, streamer and nymphing opportunities. The local stillwater lakes are all known for sizeable trout. Experienced guides know these waters inside out and will offer instruction to anglers learning the basics or in need of a tune up. They are equally well versed in the art of a long riverside lunch.
Beautifully appointed lodge
The lodge is all polished wood, roaring fires, and welcome comfort after a long day on the water. The six double rooms are simple but stylish, with big beds and superb views. The outside deck is a great place for a drink at the end of the day, there are two living rooms, a reading/internet room, and hot tub. The food is excellent, traditional Argentine fare paired with hearty local wines. Non-fishing companions won’t be bored, either: horseback rides, hikes, and excursions into San Martín de los Andes offer ample distraction.
Conveniently located with easy access
Chime Lodge is on the banks of the upper Chimehuin River, in Argentia’s northern Patagonia region. The nearest airport is Chapelco Airport in San Martin de los Andes, a 45 minute drive away.
