Oldero Lodge, Lakselv – Norway
Giant Atlantic salmon, small river
Previously overlooked in favour of other, bigger Norwegian rivers the Lakselv now ranks high on the list for salmon fishermen looking for big salmon. Fishing from Oldero Lodge, this small river, ranks amongst Norwegian rivers with a high average number of big salmon per season. The record stands at 55 lbs and several bigger fish have been lost.
Floating lines and easy wading
If easy wading, floating lines, riffling hitch and big North Atlantic salmon is what you are after then the Lakselv is the perfect place for you. Offering exclusive fishing to just six rods on some of the finest fly water in Norway.
Oldero fly fishing Lodge fishes a total of 6 beats in a rotation that is decided upon at the beginning of each fishing week. During a week anglers will fish all of the beats and will have the best chance to get into some exciting salmon fishing during their stay.
Oldero offers as private a fishing experience as is possible on the Lakselv. They own some parts of the river and lease other parts from landowners on an annual basis. This gives rods a much greater element of privacy compared to those who are fishing on public water.
One of Norway’s finest salmon lodges
The Oldero fly fishing Lodge is located on the “Olderøen” Island on the bank of Lakselv river only 100 metres from the lodges home pool, one of the best pools in Lakselv which is one of the first holding pools after the big cromers have entered the river from the Atlantic ocean. The Lodge offers modern comfort in stylish newly built facilities (built in 2011 and upgraded again in 2016/17).
There simply is no other fly fishing lodge in the North like the Oldero. The Lodge is not large by design (up to 8 guests) that makes the place more private. The rooms and communal areas are spacious and you will find every modern luxury at your fingertips.
Free Wi-Fi, hot tub, restaurant, comfortable lounge and a nice fly shop. It has four single rooms and two double rooms rooms that all include a private bathroom with shower.
When staying at the lodge you have access to breakfast buffet, lunch and 2-3 course dinner in evening in the restaurant. All meals are served each day by friendly local staff, the food is prepared by very experienced chefs and they strive to use as much local food from the Porsanger area as possible.
The Oldero fly fishing Lodge is considered one of the best in Norway and functions as a hotel for Northern light tourism out of the salmon season.
The lodge is located in the middle of the river
The lodge is located on a private island in zone 1 on the river Lakselv. It’s a modern and very comfortable lodge with six single rooms. All of which is en-suite. A couple of outdoor fireplaces contribute to the warm atmosphere and many hours is spend sitting around the fire telling stories, about the big one that got away. There is of course free WI-FI throughout the lodge.
