Erfalik
An outstanding fly fishing destination
Set amongst the spectacular wilderness of Greenland’s west coast, Erfalik Lodge offers superb fly fishing for sea-run Arctic char in a truly remote setting. It’s where skating foam flies for Arctic char was first developed and the river is famous for its impressive numbers, with aggressive fish chasing down flies in crystal-clear water.
Sea run Arctic char in a truly remote setting
The fishing is very varied and once introduced to the fishery, most visitors will fish on their own although it is always possible to ask for assistance. While there is a productive home pool in front of the lodge it would be a great shame to visit and not experience the rest of this fabulous fishery. Anglers need to be reasonably fit to make the best of the varied fishing as most is on a walk-in basis, with around 45 minutes walking on uneven trails necessary twice a day. Erfalik offers slightly easier access than some Greenland lodges with a 25-minute hike from the boat landing point to the river and with excellent lake fishing right next to the landing spot.
comfortable, well-equipped lodge
The comfortable lodge offers eight single occupancy rooms in the main lodge with a further four in an adjacent building. It is completely off grid and powered by a generator. There are hot showers and incinerator toilets located within the main lodge. The cosy lounge has wonderful views of the fjord and home pool. There is a sauna and hot tub together with an outdoor deck for warmer evenings. Meals are tasty with two or three course dinners served each evening. Breakfast typically includes eggs, bacon, bread, cereals. Bread, cold meats, and toppings are provided for lunch so anglers can make sandwiches to take out onto the water.
Remote riverside location
Erfalik is accessed via an approximately two-hour boat trip from Sisimiut which itself can be accessed Copenhagen in Denmark or Nuuk or Kangerlussuaq in Greenland.
