Bosnia offers some lovely brown trout and grayling fly fishing, a network of spring-fed rivers flowing through dramatic mountain landscapes and picturesque valleys. The rivers flow over limestone, with much of the water similar to the UK chalkstreams. They offer exceptional water clarity, healthy aquatic insect life and thriving fish populations. We focus on two of Bosnia’s main river systems, the Ribnik and the Pliva, both of which offer large sections of catch and release water.
The water clarity allows anglers to sight fish to wild trout and grayling in conditions rarely found elsewhere in Europe. The Ribnik’s soft gravel base and mostly shallow water makes wading easy while the Pliva is slightly deeper and wider and home to some big trout and grayling. Local guides have an exceptional understanding of these waters and can help anglers make the most of changing river conditions.
Beyond the fishing, Bosnia offers spectacular scenery, traditional villages and a relaxed pace of life, making it a rewarding destination both on and off the water.
