Tiamo, The Bahamas
Exclusive slice of paradise
Tiamo is an exclusive slice of paradise in the heart of the Caribbean. Situated on South Andros Island in the Out Islands of the Bahamas, a visit to Tiamo is unlike most other experiences. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, with a private beach, only 10 villas and the Bird’s Nest in our resort, taking a vacation here really does enable you get away from it all. Indulge yourself in tropical surroundings: pristine white sand beaches, lush green palm groves, and the clearest turquoise waters. Stay in one of our beachside cottages, each one the epitome of elegance, and bask in the best of the Bahamas, right on your doorstep. Sail, fish, snorkel, scuba dive or simply relax in private on one of the Caribbean’s best beaches.
Endless variety of bonefish flats and bluewater
The experienced guides at Tiamo will carry you to an incredible variety of virtually un-fished flats to hunt for bonefish, Tarpon and the ever-elusive Permit. An almost endless variety of shallow, hard sand-flats, tidal creeks, mangrove-covered shorelines, tiny islets and sand spits run all the way to the fabled “West side.”
Tiamo is almost unique in being able to find you fishing flats protected from the wind whichever way it’s blowing. You can cast a fly or a lure to a barracuda as light spinning rods are carried in every boat. Permit are seen occasionally but even more rarely caught! Tarpon can be targeted in the creeks on the west side and at certain times of year can be ambushed while migrating on the flats.
Various species of snapper and Jacks can be caught on the fly and you’ll find plentiful grouper and tuna in and around the nearby reef. Tiamo also offers a 28 ft World Cat catamaran, fully equipped for blue water fishing, allowing guests the opportunity to explore The Tongue of the Ocean that sits less than 3 miles away beyond the world’s third biggest barrier reef. With the addition of the new World Cat they can now take 6 or 8 bone fishermen in comfort and speed to the prolific white sand flats at the South of the island around The Water Cays.

Wander back up to the Great Room for lunch or, later, for a sundowner. And if you need some distraction from your hectic schedule of pure relaxation, take a browse of the collection of volumes in the island’s library, or take part in one of the many activities on offer.
No location conjures up the image of the quintessential Caribbean more readily than that of the Bahamas, and Tiamo is situated right at the very heart of these much loved islands. Set in a sheltered cove, Tiamo guests find themselves surrounded by verdant palm forests fringed with sumptuous white-sand beaches, kissed by the bluest, clearest waters imaginable.
The island itself boasts a pristine natural landscape. Much of the interior is covered in unspoiled tropical vegetation and is a habitat for some amazing wildlife, while the east coast is dotted with only a handful of small settlements, friendly and full of local character. With only around 2000 residents, South Andros remains largely unchanged from generations past; it’s a place that oozes charm and intrigue, is rich with history and authentic native culture, and evokes in visitors a touch of nostalgia for a bygone era of travel and exploration. It’s the Caribbean at its idyllic, romantic best.
