Bossington Estate, River Test – Chalkstream Fly Fishing

Set in the heart of Hampshire’s beautiful Test Valley, Bossington Estate offers classic chalkstream fly fishing on the world-renowned River Test, one of the most celebrated trout rivers in the world and the historic home of modern dry-fly fishing. The estate’s six individual river beats offer a wonderful variety of fishing, from crystal-clear shallows and fast-flowing riffles to deeper pools and winding channels, all set within the tranquil surroundings of the Hampshire countryside. With its combination of beautiful water, carefully maintained beats and fin-perfect brown trout, Bossington offers an authentic chalkstream experience for anglers of all abilities.

A Fantastic mix of Chalkstream Fly Fishing

Each beat has its own distinctive character, with opportunities to stalk trout in clear water, enjoy the excitement of a hatch or experience the timeless pleasure of presenting a dry fly to a rising fish. The iconic Home Beat, with its traditional thatched fishing hut overlooking the river, captures the charm and heritage of the estate.
Alongside its river fishing, the estate is home to Horsebridge Lake, a secluded, spring-fed stillwater stocked with rainbow trout. Its peaceful setting makes it an excellent alternative to the river, particularly for beginners, casting tuition, family fishing days and corporate groups.
Whether you are an experienced chalkstream angler or looking to discover this uniquely English style of fly fishing, Bossington provides a memorable day on the water in one of the country’s most picturesque fishing landscapes.
