Villa Maria Lodge (TDF – Rio Grande), Argentina

Villa Maria Lodge; sea trout fishing Rio Grande, TDF, Argentina.

Villa Maria Lodge is perfect for small groups as well as single anglers looking to target sea run brown trout. The lodge is a renovated farm house on the working Jose Menendez estancia. The main house is just a short drive from the river and is a benchmark lodge that all others on the river attempt to follow.

Some of the finest sea trout fishing in the world

Villa Maria has offered exciting fishing to small private groups on some of the most productive pools on the lower river since 1994.

A very different fishery to Kau Tapen, Villa Maria is a double handed fisherman’s dream, offering private access on both banks, easy wading, and first crack of the whip at newly arrived sea trout. It commands 15km of prime sea trout fishing on the lower Rio Grande, with fish averaging 10lb and running up to 30lb.

Fishing the lower Rio Grande is usually an all-day affair.  You will leave the ranch each morning, spending the day on the water (enjoying lunch and siesta in a specially designed building overlooking the river), before returning after dark. Villa Maria is a strictly catch and release fishery. Guides are equipped with nets and will assist guests in weighing and releasing fish without damaging them.

“Incredible fishery, great accommodation and service from entire staff, terrific food and wine, extremely competent guides.” J.S., UK
