On the fly-out trips guests can encounter rainbow trout, the five species of Pacific salmon, Arctic char, pike, and grayling (seasons vary). One of the more unique trips offered at Rapids Lodge Camp is the saltwater fishing for Halibut.
The lodge has two special boats perfect for fishing Kodiak Island or Geographic Harbor. Guests can enjoy the full fishing experience by heading out into Larsen Bay and catching their bait, fresh herring, to use for the halibut and then heading out to deeper water. Every cast brings up a surprise – everything from large halibut, starfish, rockfish, and even fresh salmon.
A wonderful private setting
When guests are not on the water they can relax in the comfortable and welcoming lodge, with great views over the river. The lodge can accommodate up to 20 guests, there are eight spacious, double occupancy rooms, each featuring a private bathroom. There is also a two-bedroom “House on the Hill” that accommodates 3 or 4 people.
Nestled into the bluff this house gives small groups or families a wonderful private setting. The main “social area” is the lounge, bar, and common area. This area is the epicenter of social activity, where guests gather to enjoy a drink from the bar and talk about their day of fishing. There is also a screened porch area attached to the great room. Rapids Camp Lodge keeps a full-time masseuse on-site throughout the week.

Located in the middle of Alaska’s Bristol Bay, Rapids Camp Lodge sits on the banks of the famous Naknek River. The lodge is surrounded by countless fishing opportunities throughout the Bristol Bay watershed and Katmai National Park. No other lodge in the region offers as much access to prime fishing as Rapids Camp Lodge.
They use their impressive fleet of airplanes to offer daily fly-outs to some of the most famous waters in the region, they deliver the whole package; world-class salmon fishing, trophy rainbows, and a totally unique saltwater program.
