With over 8,000 kilometres of coastline, Denmark has long held a reputation as a great place to target seatrout in saltwater. Of the many areas to target Danish seatrout, Fyn Island can be singled out as one of the best, where clear water, natural reefs and sandy beaches offer excellent year-round fishing.
Wilderness fishing on excellent fly water
Although the Danish coastline can be fished year-round, the best months for quantity seatrout are between April and October. Most of the fishing is done from the shoreline but when conditions dictate, the lodge’s fully kitted out boat can be used.
Spring is often one of the busiest times as large numbers of sea trout come close to the coast and are fairly easily accessible. The pike season opens in May making this an excellent time for a combination fishing holiday. Settled summer weather means this a wonderful time to be on the water and although the sea trout are not as numerous as in spring the fish are in excellent condition and fight extremely well. As September draws in, fish start to feed well before their spawning migrating so another excellent time to fish these waters. Professional fishing guides with years of experience are available to assist visiting anglers make the most of this enjoyable fishery.
Denmark Fishing and Outdoor Lodge also has access to some excellent pike fishing on a series of private lakes. To maintain the quality of the pike fishing the lodge restricts fishing to ten weeks a year to minimise angling pressure.

Located on the western side of the island, the lodge is just 300 metres from the sea. The spawning river, Aa, runs through this lovely beachfront area and some of Denmark’s best seatrout spots are a short drive away. The lodge was built in 2021 and comprises six en-suite bedrooms, a lounge area, an angler’s lounge with fly tying area, a gear and storage area, fishing shop and private parking. The restaurant serves hearty breakfasts and dinner and can provide packed lunches if you are keen to take a full day on the water.
Straight forward access
The lodge is 10 km from the beautiful town of Assens, 35 minutes from Odense, and two hours from Copenhagen and Billund Airport. There are daily flights linking Copenhagen and Billund from many European airports, and car hire can be organised from the airport.
