Eleven Bahama House, Harbour Island, Bahamas

Boutique retreat on a Bahamian island gem

Harbour Island has always been a bit of a Caribbean secret and Eleven Bahama House is perfectly located to take advantage of all that this lovely island has to offer. Fishing is part of the experience but not the entire experience. You can fish for a day or two but you don’t have to be locked into fishing every day or even all day. Flexibility is key, with plenty of opportunity to explore the pink sand beaches, pastel painted houses and distinct cultural heritage.

Flats fishing, scuba diving and much more

Specialist fishing guides can take you out onto The Bahamas’ famous flats to target bonefish – the elusive grey ghosts that frequent the shallow waters here. The guides will choose the area that best suits your fishing abilities to ensure you have a great experience out on the water. If you fancy more fishing, then there’s the chance to head offshore and target wahoo, tuna and dorado. Away from fishing there’s plenty else to do here. The pink powder sand beaches lapped by clear warm waters are delightful, the scuba diving and snorkelling is superb, you can island hop, enjoy various wellness treatments and venture out to explore many of the island’s wonderful local restaurants, bars and shops.

This video sums up what visitors can expect at when staying at Bahama House.

A dreamy lodge on a phenomenally pretty island

The lodge has been crafted out of two, 200 year old cottages which have been lovingly restored, and two  new buildings. The resulting boutique hotel accommodates up to 24 guests in 11 beautifully appointed en-suite cottages decorated in a chic plantation style and furnished with vintage rattan furniture. The central courtyard features a freshwater pool and outdoor tiki bar. With plenty of Bahamian charm it’s a lovely spot from which to enjoy this pretty island.

Abaco Island on the Bahamas

The hotel is set in the heart of Dunmore Town close to popular restaurants and live music spots. The nearest airport to Bahama House is North Eluthera Airport which is served by a range of commercial airlines. Once you land you will travel via taxi to Eluthera Three Island dock from which it’s a five minute  boat taxi ride to Harbour Island. From here it’s a three minute walk, or two minute taxi ride to the hotel. It is also possible to take a seaplane charter from Nassau, Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
