We’ve two rare rods available on Providence Atoll the week of Tuesday 31st march to Tuesday 7th April. Known for its vast, untouched flats and raw wilderness, Providence has developed a near-mythical reputation among those who have walked its coral shallows in search of giant trevally, bumphead parrotfish, milkfish, triggerfish, and bonefish developed over the last decade. If you’ve been thinking about fishing these extraordinary waters, now’s your chance.

This week will coincide with the full moon, bringing a significant amount of water movement throughout the entire week. This robust current is generally favourable for predatory species like giant trevally (GTs), and we anticipate the presence of larger trophy GTs enticed out of deep water onto the flats due to the stronger and higher water movements. There’s always a chance for triggers and permit to make an appearance. There is a strong likelihood that bumpies will also be offshore around the full moon.

The tide schedule for this week will feature a low tide around the midday period at the beginning, with a gradual shift later into the afternoon as the week progresses. The initial days offer a rare opportunity to access the eastern side, achievable only during a few tides in the monthly cycle. Additionally, with the extreme low tides, access to outer reef systems closer to deeper drop-offs is possible, providing a chance to catch large ocean-going GTs that may not frequent the atoll on smaller tides. Although the sessions should be explosive, they will be short, so anglers ideally need to maximize their opportunities. Brief periods in the morning and afternoon will render the flats inaccessible due to high water. During these times, exploring other non-flats fishing options is advisable. Options include offshore fishing and bommie bashing (drifting over coral heads and catching an array of species – highly recommended and very exciting). Depending on the mothership’s location, there is also a chance to explore shallower land masses, offering good fishing opportunities. In summary, this week is expected to be more GT-oriented, providing an opportunity to catch a few trophy fish!
Cost is US$16,000 per person based on shared cabin, shared guide and boat. Single cabin supplement US$2,500 subject to availability.
