We are delighted to announce that after many years finally St Brandon’s in Mauritius is reopening for fishermen in the 2023 season. St Brandon’s offers the finest flats fishing for bonefish and Indo Pacific permit on the planet. Fishermen consistently target high numbers of tailing bonefish averaging 6 – 8 lbs. Double figure fish are landed on an almost weekly basis with the largest landed being over 14 lbs and close to 90 cm! St Brandon’s also provides exceptional fishing for Indo Pacific permit providing daily shots at these highly sought after fish.

The atoll is home to some truly large giant and bluefin trevally. 95% of the GTs measure around the metre mark with some landed to 1.30m. This fishery caters to novice or highly experienced anglers alike. Novices can target the large numbers of fairly naïve bonefish whilst the experienced rods hunt single trophy tailing bonefish, permit and or monster GTs.

Due to the number of rollovers there is very little space, but we can offer the following in 2023:

10 – 20 April 2023 (NM 20) – 2 rods available. 9 April ’23 Easter Sunday – The first fishing day will be on the 12th and the last on the 18th. The first two days will revolve around fishing the last of the spring tides. The low tide will occur around mid-morning which is good for skinny water bonefishing moving to fishing the land masses and sand spits looking for tailing permit trevally and schooling bones after being pushed off the flats. The first two days will consist of fishing low tide on the flats and the higher tides on the land masses and sand spits. The rest of the trip will involve fishing the dropping and pushing tides spending most of the day on the flats. These tides are also good for accessing the surf zones. Weather conditions are typically warm with lighter than average winds. This increases water temperatures and provides favourable conditions for Bluefin and Giant Trevally fishing on the flats.

29 May – 8 June 2023 (FM 4) – 4 rods available on. The first fishing day will be on the 31 May and the last on the 6 June. The first two days will revolve around fishing the last of the spring tides. The low tide will be fished mid-morning which is good for skinny water bonefish fishing moving to fishing the land masses and sand spits looking for tailing permit trevally and schooling bones after being pushed off the flats. The first two days will consist of fishing low tide on the flats and the higher tides on the land masses and sand spits. The rest of the trip will involve fishing the dropping and pushing tides spending most of the day on the flats. These tides are also good for accessing the surf zones. Bigger bones are however generally found during this time of year as they like the cooler water and cloudier skies.
