Rio Manso is a lovely lodge in the Nahuel Huapi National Park around an hour and half’s drive from Bariloche. With miles of water to explore, and little fishing pressure, it’s a great choice for a good value fly fishing holiday. Anglers can expect super fishing for brown, rainbow and brook trout on a variety of waters including streams and rivers, intimate spring creeks and deep productive lakes. It’s location in the northern part of Patagonia also means the weather conditions tend to be a little kinder than those found further south.

We’ve worked with the team for some time and are have just received this pre-season report from the guides there:
The 2025/2026 fishing season is here, and the excitement is building!
Rivers are in perfect condition, trout are active, and Rio Manso Lodge is ready to welcome guests for another unforgettable season on the water.

Spring at Rio Manso Lodge marks the start of a new fishing season. As snowmelt feeds the Manso system, rivers clear and trout become active in the lakes and streams of Nahuel Huapi National Park. Longer days, mild temperatures, and vibrant scenery make it one of the best times to explore the region.
During this time, dragonfly nymphs are abundant in the shallow waters and reed beds. These nymphs are a primary food source for trout, providing a rich protein source that fuels their growth and energy. As the season progresses and the nymphs mature, they begin to ascend toward the water’s surface to molt into adult dragonflies, a process that attracts feeding fish. This natural phenomenon creates an exciting opportunity for anglers to target trout actively feeding on these nymphs.

In addition to outstanding fishing, you will find comfortable accommodation, delicious cuisine, accommodating staff, and all the other things that make a fishing destination great. There are also plenty of activities for non-fishing guests to enjoy.
