Renowned for big multi-sea-winter salmon in spectacular scenery, Stóra Laxá fish are powerful, hard fighters. Season: 20 June–10 October, with prime runs late June/early July and mid-August into September. In 2026, all four beats—including the dramatic Beat 4 gorge—join the rotation, giving access to 155 named pools. The expanded lodge accommodates eight guests on-site, making this an exciting time to fish the river.

MIÐFJARÐARÁ, WEST COAST

A gin-clear, medium-sized river and a true Icelandic gem, Miðfjarðará offers classic salmon fishing with over 200 named pools. Just six to ten rods rotate across five beats, ensuring a private feel even in low water years. Comfortable lodge with en-suite rooms, excellent dining, and superb service. Rods rarely become available.
