The Tapam 2026 season has started with a bang, with daily guide reports of giant fish landed.

Catching giant tarpon is never easy, and figuring out a vast system of rivers and lagoons like Tapam takes years.

Of course you can be lucky, but good guides make all the difference. The team here has gone all in, scouting, recruiting young, hungry and hard-working guides, all combined with many years of experience. The boats and equipment have been and upgraded too, so nothing is left to chance.

While luck may have something to do with the great start to the season, experience puts you in the right place when it matters.

Alex Jardine was delighted to visit Tapam tarpon lodge after it reopened last year. His trip report gives a full account of his time there – well worth a read if you are interested in visiting this magical place in the Nicaraguan jungle.
