Here’s the latest news from Turneffe Flats Lodge, an Aardvark McLeod favourite in Belize. Over to Craig Hayes for his update:

We are in the midst of our busy season which has included nice mixture of anglers, divers, Atoll Adventurers and some long-range swimmers.

An unusual April warm spell has recently passed and the weather has been very pleasant. We are hoping this summer won’t be a repeat of last year’s extremely warm weather which impacted some of our corals.

Fishing has been good with plenty of shots at permit and large bonefish keeping things interesting. The big tarpon are already showing up with some 100lb+ fish sighted recently.

We’ve had several fun dive groups and Ruben continues to take great care of all our divers. As usual, Abel is working his magic with the Atoll Adventurers.

We’ve recently purchased a new 28ft boat which will give us more flexibility with our Atoll Adventure and Swim Trek groups. Our entire fleet has undergone renovations over the past 12 months.

To offer some pre-dinner variety, we have been upgrading the presentation area in the Main Lodge.  Presentations will include Abel’s popular underwater slide shows as well as a presentation by the marine reserve (TASA) about the symbiotic relationship between the TASA and Turneffe Atoll Trust. An infrastructure tour of the solar power plant, etc. will also become a weekly option.

We’re not the only ones who love Turneffe Flats Lodge and Craig reports bookings for the first half of 2025 are brisk. If you would like to secure space at this great lodge (much more information on why to go is on our blog here) it’s not to early too get your dates set.
