Chasing the sea trout of Rio Grande are a pilgrimage that many overseas anglers have made for over three decades. There is nowhere on the planet that offers anything like the numbers or size of fish running this incredible river. The run of sea trout in the Rio Grande is estimated at between 50,000-75,000 and more akin to a Russian salmon river. Unlike sea trout in other areas of the world these fish can be brazen and aggressive and landing a double figure fish is not unusual. This phenomenal experience on the river is beautifully complimented by the stunning lodges up and down the river system, each catering for different tastes, fishing styles and abilities.

With a total lack of pressure from the last two seasons we are very excited about the fishing prospects for 2022 and what it might bring. To that end if you are thinking of rediscovering this incredible fishery or trying it for the first time, we would urge you to begin looking at it now. With many roll overs from this season space is filling up fast, although there are still some prime gaps available. We are pleased to offer all the lodges on Rio Grande and can give you a completely unbiased view as to which will suit you.

Kau Tapen
One of the oldest and probably the most modern / highest standard lodge on the entire river. A superb lodge that has access to both the Rio Grande and Menendez rivers. The fishing at Kau Tapen has been described as the finest fly fishing for sea trout in the world. It has access to 16 km of the Rio Grande, and the sea trout average 12 lbs in size and can be as much as 30+ lbs. The lodge has access for fly fishing on both banks of the Rio Grande, and the river offers easy wading to the fly fishermen on fine gravel.

Irigoyen
The Irigoyen is an exciting river for specimen sea trout and robalo in southern Tierra del Fuego. The river is sheltered from the strong wind the area is famous for and is also a smaller river than the neighbouring Rio Grande, which many will prefer. Most of the river is set against a beautiful background of Antarctic and Lenga Beech trees, until, near the coast, it emerges from this sheltered forest into the barren coastal plain for a couple of kilometres.  Cost is US$6,540 including the fishing licence cost. Availability upon request.
