The fly fishing at Crooked & Acklins Island in The Bahamas should be on all Caribbean anglers hit list as it is such a unique destination. The Bahamas has for a long time established itself as a leading bonefish destination, every cay, cove and channel seems to hold good numbers of bonefish ranging from large shoals of smaller fish to big single fish. There is, however, little focus placed upon the other species that live in these waters and swim side by side with the bonefish, and this is where Crooked & Acklins Island steps in.

When the new operation on Crooked Island came online we were hugely excited, whilst it offered shots at bonefish it also highlighted the chances of catching other species too. This includes the Caribbean favourites of permit, tarpon and barracuda. Anglers also have chances to target triggerfish, shark and jacks on the fly.

The lodge covers a vast area of flats habitat, stretching from Crooked Island to Acklins Island. Within this area you will find hard sand flats, turtle grass flats, mangrove lined lagoons and drop-offs.
