There’s a special kind of anticipation that comes with the start of a new season in Tierra del Fuego—and this year, we have every reason to be excited about what lies ahead at Kau Tapen for the 2027 season.
Since 1984, Kau Tapen Lodge has set the standard for sea-run brown trout fishing on the legendary Río Grande. With exclusive access to more than 20 miles of the Middle Río Grande, fishing both banks, plus another 20 miles of the Río Menéndez, anglers have the opportunity to experience two very different—and complementary—sea trout fisheries throughout the week.
The Grande delivers the scale, power, and possibility of truly exceptional fish. The Menéndez offers a more intimate and technical experience, perfectly suited to single-handed fishing. Together, they give Kau Tapen a level of variety that has defined the lodge for more than four decades.
