Due to the new visa policy put in place for US visitors by the Venezuelan government and the opening of the doors to Cuba for US fishermen there has been a dramatic decrease in traffic to this fabulous saltwater fishery. Considered to be one of the top three flats destinations in the world this lack of pressure has meant phenomenal fishing on these flats with hardly anyone on them. If you are looking for a value for money saltwater trip next year and love to wade for tailing fish then we would suggest you seriously consider Los Roques as your trip for the 2016 season. We can also offer a 10% discount on all trips for next year. The current cost is US$4,485 per rod based on shared occupancy and shared guide for 7 nights at Acuarela Posada, hotels in La Guairá and internal flights. We can offer this for US$4,040 per person offering exceptional value for money to this exceptionally well run operation.

Los Roques is without doubt one of the world’s premier flats destinations, and if you would like to experience casting to tailing bonefish on skinny flats there can be no better place.  Although primarily a bonefish destination the decrease in pressure has had a huge bonus in that large permit are being seen regularly on the flats along with good numbers of tarpon in and around the archipelago.

Having visited Los Roques nine times it has for a long time held a special place in my heart. It offers a relaxed atmosphere with exceptional and experienced guides. It is also a unique fishery as the bonefishing can be likened to dry fly fishing to sighted river trout; the presentation needs to be delicate to result in the ultimate reward. The flats here are a sight fisher’s playground with the possibility of experiencing different bonefish feeding environments in a day from tailing fish to nervous water and aggressive baitfish eating. I have always been particularly fond of the minnow fishing from the beaches which can be extremely exciting with aggressive takes in amongst the diving pelicans. In the past I have even played with floating minnows and caught them off the surface.

If you are looking for a value for money flats destination that provides a service well beyond its price tag then you should seriously consider Los Roques and take advantage of the empty flats.
