Having completed its first full season, Astove atoll had a pretty successful season overall. The original coral house has now been fully renovated into a very comfortable lodge to house six anglers in the coming season. Please don’t miss out on space as there are only 6 rods per week and only 6 weeks during the November to December period.

All good things have to come to an end as Alphonse Fishing Co celebrates the close of our first and very successful 10-week “fly fishing only” season at Astove Atoll Lodge, Seychelles.  Astove is rugged and remarkably remote making it the perfect destination for anglers who seek adventure and prefer a unique and wild experience. Astove’s lagoon, Lagoon mouth and “Wall” make it stand out from the rest of the other outer atolls.

The incredible fish tally for the 10-week season ended up at 599 giant trevally, which is an average of 10 GTs per angler per week, of which 31 were over 100 cm, 4 over 120 cm, and 1 cracked the 125 cm (90 lbs) mark.  Astove is truly a destination for big GTs and it was proven when 2 anglers landed 16 GTs within 2 hours, 9 of which measured over 100 cm. There were 35 triggerfish landed, many more hooked and a lot of tackle lost in doing so. The inside of the lagoon fished incredibly well for permit with 4 landed and numerous others coming unbuttoned. The bonefishing was exceptional with countless landed, some really big fish and the trophies reaching the 10 lbs mark. To add to the impressiveness of the seasons’ tally there were 12 “Grand Slams”, which is more than one each week.  Its hard to believe that flats fishing can get any better.

Next season will commence in November, which is prime time.
Tight lines from the Alphosne Fishing Co.
