When considering your next fly fishing trip, be that salt or freshwater, there is a chance that you consider just a small range compared to what is available. In trout fishing the mind often wanders off to the New Zealand back country, the gorges of Argentina or the open plains of the American West but there is a venue you may have overlooked; Spain, and in particular the Spanish Pyrenees.
The fly fishing in this part of the world is based from two fully equipped lodges located in small medieval Spanish villages. From these locations anglers have access to 60 fantastic trout rivers within 14 major valleys, offering fishing from March through to November. Anglers and travel companions will enjoy the unspoiled nature while get immersed in Spain’s culture, its imperial history, gastronomic richness, and old-world hospitality.
The Salvelinus Fly Fishing Packages
The fly fishing operation at salvelinus operate three distinct Pyrenees packages; Salvelinus West, Salvelinus East, and the Pyrenees Trout Tour. Each trip has been crafted by Iván Tarín after more than 30 years of scouting Pyrenean waters and is an experience that combines nature, gastronomy, wine, and great fishing.
Salvelinus West

Rich trout waters in the most remote Pyrenees from Santa Cilia, a charming village along the Way of St. James, where Salvelinus established the first fly fishing lodge in Spain in 1999. Any direction you take from the lodge will lead you to prolific freestones, crystal–clear lakes, and interesting tailwaters inhabited by native browns.
Spring offers abundant hatches. Summer is great for the remote waters in the highlands, accessible by 4×4 car, or helicopter. Fall brings great opportunities for sizeable trout.
Salvelinus East
Season: 1st March to 30th November

Fly fish a selection of major wild trout rivers and streams of the Pyrenees from Arén; a medieval village from where you can explore a variety of waters for all skill levels from UNESCO´s reserves or National Parks to recondite fly fishing spots, delve into local culture, or get carried away by the superb hearty cuisine crafted in the lodge’s 300 years old private restaurant.
Early Spring offers great BWOs. The best Summer fishing is in the highlands. Stable weather in late October and November bring productive nymphing.
