Considered one of the hardest fighting freshwater fish, tigerfish have a well deserved reputation as a game fish that appeals to both freshwater and saltwater anglers. Although Southern Africa is the better known tigerfish destination, trophy tigerfish haunt the rivers of East Africa. It is to the remote river systems of the Mnyera and Ruhudji river valleys that Hydrocynus aficionados gravitate. For it is there that leviathans dwell. These rivers hold fish of a lifetime but be warned; it’s an addictive species and it is a rare angler who can fish these rivers only once and be content. It’s not just the very real possibility of a tigerfish of 20 lbs or over, its the knowledge that the river is littered with double digit tigerfish and for those lucky enough, there are other species here that are very rarely caught. Primarily bycatch and by no means the target species, that very faint chance that you might just land something no one else has just adds to the mystique of these remote river systems. The whole experience is something incredibly hard to quantify; the birdlife, the location, camp fires and stars, the camp staff, the boat drivers, the guides; it all adds up to an unforgettable experience.Tanzania, tigerfish, fishing in Tanzania, Mnynera, Ruhudji, Aardvark McLeod, Johann de Preez

Accommodation and fishing are on a shared basis; two people sharing a room and boat with guide and driver.
