Christmas Island offers adventurous anglers one of the finest saltwater flats fisheries in the world. This magical destination, known for both its world-class angling opportunities and its strikingly beautiful natural resources and happy, compassionate I-Kiribati people. If your angling adventure bucket list includes a visit to Kiritimati – and it certainly should – then Christmas Island Lodge is a great place to consider for a superb fly fishing holiday.
Here’s the latest from Christmas Island Lodge on the 2025 fishing season
The fishing has been excellent recently with many trophy bonefish, triggerfish, trevally and various other species coming to hand each week for our adventurous anglers. Of particular interest is the number of triggerfish, both peachface and titan, that have been landed recently by Christmas Island Lodge guests. These pernickety characters are always fun to pursue and watching them tail on the white sand flats of Kiritimati certainly gets the heart pumping.

The weather on Christmas Island has offered ideal conditions this fall and promises to continue as the New Year approaches. Under these mostly sunny skies, species brought to hand by our guests included bonefish, Picasso triggerfish, yellow margin triggerfish, titan triggerfish, giant trevally, bluefin trevally, golden trevally, spotted trevally, striped trevally, bohar snapper, parrotfish, long nose emperorfish, yellow snapper, various groupers, queenfish, blacktip sharks, Christmas Island wrasse, ladder wrasse and flatfish among others.
Our most recent oceanside bungalow addition, the Frigate’s Nest bungalow, is ready for incoming guests and our brand new commercial kitchen opens for 2026. Of course, the world-class guest service continues as a standard aspect of all of our available angling packages.
