Alphonse fishing report 11th – 18th January 2020

It has been a rather wet but successful week on Alphonse Island. The great group of anglers that joined us for the week that were heavily focused on landing a ‘GT for the first time’. The spring tides and full moon allowed for good fishing and shots at the BIG 5 throughout the week. The spring tide allowed for some amazing bonefishing and by the end of the six days a total of 334 fish where landed.

Day one started off well with all rods landing plenty of bonefish. Oleg Kazakov broke the mould by landing a nice 70 cm GT, as did Alexey landing a 73 cm GT as well as 2 bluefin trevally. Alexey had another great day on day two landing two further GT’s, measuring 65 cm and 67 cm. John Carey also landed a beautiful 75 cm GT. Lance Ruffel came with one goal, and that was to land his first GT, this he finally managed on day four with a 63 cm fish. Day six was a superb day for bonefishing with the team using the large spring tides to their advantage and landing over triple figures.
