Following on from Charlotte’s trip to Cameroon in February, we are delighted to have the availability for 2020; the second season in this remote region. On the target list are 3 species of tigerfish, yellowfish, barbs and of course … Nile perch.
Targeting trophy Nile perch, tigerfish, and yellowfish, on foot, on fly, in a big game area is an unbelievable fly fishing experience. Add to that, fishing in the dark for Nile perch and you have one of the most unique fly fishing experiences on the planet. The fishery is still very much unexplored and there is still much to learn but in the brief period that it has been fished, Nile perch up to 150 lbs have been landed on fly, along with tigerfish up to 20 lbs and yellowfish up to 15 lbs. No doubt there are more species to be discovered and larger fish to be landed and in our ever decreasing world, being able to be part of a small number of anglers discovering and exploring this part of the world is a rare opportunity indeed.
Moving into the second season, the amount of water available has doubled from 65 km to 130 km and a second camp established in the upper section of the river. There will no doubt be many more adjustments to come and we are incredibly excited to be a part of the development of the fishery.

The conservation goals it is helping us and our partners achieve is even more noteworthy. We are very pleased to announce that the fly fishing and conservation efforts in Cameroon have intensified since the first exploratory trips in early 2018. The 2019 pioneer season saw huge steps in the right direction and we have now doubled the river area under Tourette Fishing management. The Faro Fly Fishing product is now adding incredible value to the area by helping to ensure sustainable and well managed fly fishing is able to contribute significant funds towards conservation and anti-poaching strategies in the area. The revitalization of the Cameroonian-registered NGO, the Faro Conservation Association (AFC), starting in 2019, is one of the first steps to achieving this goal.
