Great Alaska Adventure Lodge, Alaska
Experience the the world-famous Kenai Peninsula
Located on the world-famous Kenai Peninsula, this operation’s proximity to Anchorage allows for short, quick fishing trips, single overnights, or multi-day packages, making the Great Alaska Adventure Lodge a solid stand-alone fishing destination or the perfect add-on to an extended Alaskan vacation.
World class fishing on the doorstep
One thing that makes Great Alaska Adventure Lodge totally unique is the phenomenal “home water” fishing situation. They offer what they call the “evening beach fishing program” directly in front of the Lodge. This beach, stretching from the guest cabins to the water, boasts five world records – possibly more than any other single run in Alaska! Each evening, one of the guides is there to assist with evening fishing and offer instruction and assistance in landing fish. This is a huge bonus, as the home water option allows guests to fish immediately upon arrival and right up until an hour before departure! Evening fishing hours during your stay are almost unlimited.
The location, amenities, and the size of the facility also make the lodge an ideal option for large groups and large corporate retreats. It is the perfect base from which to explore the wonders of the Kenai region, with access to both world-class fishing and a large number of non-angling activities as well. Aside from offering excellent action for kings, silvers, rainbows, and more, the lodge also boasts a diverse line-up of adventure activities for non-anglers and family members, including bear viewing, rafting, Denali tours and glacier trips.
Great Alaska Adventure Lodge is permitted to fish the refuge trout waters of the Upper Kenai. This area is one of the most spectacular trout fisheries in the state; catching and releasing 20 trout or char weighing up to 10 pounds in a single day is not uncommon! The Lodge also fishes other options within the area, including the Kasilof River, Anchor, Deep Creek and many others. During your stay, you will have the option to fish multiple scenarios depending on your preferences.
Spacious, comfortable cabins
The Main Lodge offers accommodations for up to fifty guests, with excellent dining, a full bar and even a large conference space for business and corporate groups. The Main Lodge rooms and the riverside cabins all have fireplaces, comfortable furniture, and plenty of space.
Some of the cabins are two levels with spiral staircases. You can expect amenities such as welcome baskets, “coffee to your door” wake-ups, riverfront views, private baths, fireplaces, and even a nightly happy hour in the main lodge building. This complimentary “Evening Happy Hour” is a big event at the lodge, making for great times with all of the guests in attendance. For those looking for something other than a traditional lodge experience, Great Alaska Adventures Lodge also offers a number of back-country camping options and permanent tent camps that provide the prefect balance of rugged and civilized living.
The lodge staff appreciates the fact that your time off the water or trail is an important component of your vacation experience. Chef Mike and his staff serve up authentic and fresh American favorites that everyone can enjoy. Vegetarian and special dietary needs or kid’s items are handled daily, and all meals provide options to “go light” or stock up for the following day’s adventure! In the evening, prior to happy hour, be sure and check out Mike’s bacon-wrapped Halibut chunks or smoked salmon and dill spread on thick rustic crackers.
