One of our veterans of Alphonse, Mrs Vicky Reed, caught this outstanding Permit of approximately 18 lbs on her recent trip in December. The fish had been feeding in a cut when Vicky and her guide came across it and it took an Enrico Puglisi shrimp pattern.

Vicky and her team of rods did very well with reasonable numbers of Giant trevally hooked and …lost, and this fine specimen landed.

Alphonse Island has continued to be one of the most consistent saltwater fisheries on the planet with excellent numbers of bonefish along with huge species variation. With Cosmoledo out of action for the forseable future Alphonse is THE fishery in the Indian Ocean. I will be heading there with a team on the 28 January and am looking forward to bumping into a few of these fish!
