A perfect day in Guatemala starts with clear blue skies, calm winds and calm seas. It doesn’t get any better though than a short cruise through the marina, boat up on a plane – and then we start fishing at five miles from the dock.Costa Rica, Osa Peninsular, Guatemala, fishing, holiday, family, volanoe, trekking, photography, bird watching, family holiday, Aardvark McLeod

This is how it has been the last few days; the fishing last week was consistent at fifteen miles or so – which in itself is only a quick jaunt – but at only five miles, we are in sight of land….the volcanoes looming in the background.

Sometimes the currents just work in your favour – pulling huge quantities of bait towards the coast, quickly followed by the predators. Our groups these past few days have been raising 20-30 billfish each day only 15 minutes from the marina. They have also returned with plenty of meat for dinner- some large dorado up to 40lbs have been in the mix along with the odd tuna.

When we say it is a perfect day, that is almost as good as it gets!

The weather has been great with temperatures in the mid-eighties and calm seas – so it is a great time to escape the polar vortex and come down for some great fishing action.
