The past few weeks at Mayazul Lodge have brought exciting action on the flats. Permit fishing has been solid, and anglers are consistently crossing paths with migratory tarpon. While the weather has had its ups and downs, there have still been plenty of opportunities—and several trophy fish have made it to the boat.

This time of year, the flats offer a mix of species and situations: permit tailing on white sand, baby tarpon holding near mangroves, and strong sightings of migratory tarpon cruising the deeper edges. It’s the kind of fishing that rewards focus and preparation—especially for those chasing permit.

The beachside lodge setup is designed to keep you close to the action. Boats pick up right in front—no trailering or long drives. Each of the four rooms features two queen beds and can be booked based on single or shared guide/boat.

Days at Mayazul start with fresh coffee and a made-to-order breakfast as the sun rises over the flats. Then it’s off to the water—guided by a team deeply connected to the fishery and fully focused on your experience, both on and off the boat. After a full day’s fishing, you’ll return to the lodge for cold drinks, fresh seafood appetizers, and the sound of the sea just steps from your room. Meals are served à la carte and feature local ingredients, thoughtfully prepared by our team of talented chefs.

There is still some availability from August through November and booking is open for the 2026 season as well. If you’re planning a dedicated saltwater trip, this stretch of the Yucatán continues to deliver some of the most reliable permit and tarpon fishing.
