Having the opportunity to the fish the Midfjardara is very rare indeed as this river crowned the ‘Queen of Icelandic Rivers’ rarely has availability due to the fact that anglers keep returning and retain their rods in perpetuity.
If your idea of heaven is to see the reaction of the salmon as they come to intercept your fly then there can be no finer river for this. The water is crystal clear and the fishing is more like trout fishing than salmon fishing, where a carefully placed cast takes precedence over casting to the horizon.
If you are looking for main season space then please do let us know and we will update you accordingly on availability. However, in the meantime here’s some great early and late season fishing.
Early and Late Season Fishing
- June 21-27th: This week will fish just 6 rods as opposed to the normal 10, meaning that you will have more water available per angler, which is crucial in the early season. Just 2 rods remain.
- September 1-4th: 4 rods remain in this 10 rod slot.
- September 16-19th: Maximum of 6 rods, with all currently being available.
