Alphonse fishing report 20-27 October 2018Alphonse Island, St Francois atoll, Seychelles, fishing Astove, fishing in Seychelles, GTs, giant trevally, bonefish, triggerfish, permit, Aardvark McLeod

The weather on week 5 of the Alphonse season was nothing short of spectacular! Coupled with a full moon and spring tides, this was recipe for great walks prowling for hungry GTs and triggers on the surf line. The first day of the week kicked off in true bonefish style with each member of the team landing their fair share. Steve Townsend and Edward Hill came out on top landing the largest of them all, measuring in at 60 cm. Curt O’Connor went on to show his skill by presenting the perfect cast which struck gold with a 60 cm permit succumbing to his fly. Steve got stuck into a battle in the lagoon with the largest GT of the season thus far, and, after a 35 minute fight, managed to tame the beast of 124 cm. Thomas Tavernier landed his only milkfish of the week weighing in at 25 pounds and although this week was full of trophy fish, Eworth Garbutt managed to land 4 of the ‘Big 5’, ending with a 73 cm GT, a 67 cm permit, a 35 lbs milkfish and a bag full of bones. Our only lady angler for the week, Francis Hill, was the only angler that managed to tame a tricky trigger, landing a stunning moustache triggerfish. Peter Stollery and Thomas Tavernier snuck out on a quick 3 hour bluewater charter and both landed their first sailfish. A wonderful week of gorgeous weather, good company and excellent fishing.

Week summary; 290 bonefish, 2 permit, 4 GTs, 1 moustache triggerfish, 2 sailfish, 2 milkfish
