The summer of 2024/25 will go down as one of the best seasons yet at Makhangoa Community Camp (MCC). This achievement is a testament to the resounding success of the community tourism initiative that is the Makhangoa Community Camp.

The Bokong River, renowned for offering arguably the finest dry fly and sight fishing in Southern Africa, boasts an incredible population of yellowfish, a thriving rainbow trout fishery, and a revered brown trout fishery in its highest reaches. Once again, it delivered the one-of-a-kind experience that anglers from across the globe come to enjoy.

However, the MCC experience has evolved into so much more than just incredible fly fishing. Through careful curation of both on- and off-water experiences, annual upgrades to the lodge, the MCC team ensure they deliver a superb bespoke fly fishing and leisure experience. Riverside lunches delivered on horseback, a professional in-house chef preparing meals in the open-plan kitchen and dining area, gin bars offering 360-degree vistas, and drift boats that enable guests to fish in any weather conditions — all these elements, combined with a family-friendly vibe and culture of inclusion, guarantee that every guest leaves with a deep connection to both the people and the place.
Off season upgrades will continue this winter and will be complete in time for guests when the season kicks off again in November.
