Kellankoski Lodge, Finland, June 2026

Aardvark McLeod will be hosting a week in Finland in June 2026. Based at Kellankoski Lodge which offers access to one of the best native brown trout fisheries in Europe. A typical Finland brown trout here is around 50cm with good chances of catching fish around 70cm.

The Troutland area in central Finland includes over 10km of excellent private brown trout water and offers world class fly fishing. Experienced fishing guides will take visiting anglers to the all the best waters of the region at any given time. The season runs from May to August, with prime time to catch large trout seen to be between June to the end of August. Much of the season is focussed on fishing for these large trout as they hunt the runs of baitfish that come out of the lakes and into the faster water to spawn. These rapids tend to be 25 to 40m wide and around 1km in length which makes them relatively easy to fish. Wading is possible in most parts and there are platforms at the rapids for those who would prefer not to get into the water. Drift boats can be used in some spots.
